Dredging to the outer portion of the St. Joseph Harbor will begin in early May. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Detroit District is awarding a $397,000 contract to the King Company of Holland to do the work. King will dredge 62,000 cubic yards within the navigational channel leading out into Lake Michigan. District Engineer Lt. Col. Robert Ells is pleased to award the contract so navigation can "be kept open for important marine commerce that helps boost the local economy and support jobs." Work should be done by early June.
