Though he is back home, Benton Harbor Fire Fighter Lt. Doug Bell is doubtful that he will ever return to fighting fires. After suffering burns to 20% of his body during a house fire on Jennings Avenue last month, Bell has been at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo ever since. Bell returned home Thursday, his hands remain encased in medical gloves and arms wrapped in bandages. 18-months of daily therapy to repair nerve damage and other injuries await Bell. There is still the possibility he could lose parts of his fingers. Bell tells the "Herald-Palladium" I'm just thankful to be alive.
