State Representative Dave Pagel says he has secured funding from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund for a pair of projects this summer in Berrien County. Silver Beach County Park will have $300,000 coming from the state for a new beach shelter, pier trail, pier restroom and upgrades to the playground and electrical system. Another $286,000 grant is slated for Niles Township for developing a four-mile extension of the Indiana-Michigan River Valley Trail to the Indiana state line from Brandywine Creek Natural Preserve. Since 1976, the trust fund has awarded $14.2 million dollars to projects in Berrien County and over $965 million statewide.
