Random explosive devices are being found in Gobles. The home owner of 108 North State Street was cleaning out their garage Wednesday afternoon, when they came across a brown paper bag containing what appeared to be a hand grenade. Deputies were called, they determined it was an old World War II pineapple style grenade with the safety pin still in. In the same bag was a modified CO2 cartridge packed with powder. The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad took both items to their disposal facility to be destroyed. The previous tenant, who rented the house for over 20 years, tells authorities they had no idea how or when the items could have gotten there. No injures were reported.
