Walsh: No Timeline On Departure

Frank Walsh says any timeline for his departure from the city of St. Joseph before his retirement at the end of August is speculation at this point. The St. Joseph city manager tells WSJM News the contract isn't finalized yet for his new job with Meridian Township near Lansing.

A published report indicates Walsh could take the position soon after it comes open. Walsh says the city commission has not yet discussed the possibility of an interim city manager, and he will not take part in those discussions. Regarding his pension, he will receive nearly $84,000 a year from the city upon his retirement. Walsh says he's been eligible for retirement and the pension since 2009, but has wanted to keep working and put off drawing the pay. It won't be defered until a later date.
