Through a charitable donation, United Federal Credit Union is giving money to jump start a program which helps cancer patients cope with their treatment. "Handles of Hope" was created by Ruth Beach, a breast cancer survivor and UFCU employee. Sandie Lieberg with UFCU says Beach created a list of things that helped her during treatment, and wants to share them with others.
UFCU is donating $4,000 to Lakeland Health Foundation to get the program started. Volunteers put the bags together. A feedback comment card is also in the bag, so patients can make suggestions on what they would like to see in future bags.
