The Senate Education Committee is hearing why more career and technical education courses be allowed toward high school graduation requirements is best for students. State Senator John Proos was joined in Lansing on Wednesday by Niles Community Schools Superintendent Richard Weigel and CEO of Vickers Engineering Matt Tayler. Proos says the state is going to need students with more CTE courses under their belt.
In January, Proos introduced Senate Bill 66 that would allow the additional CTE courses to count toward graduation requirements. Proos says education is not one-size-fits-all, Southwest Michigan students need the choice to choose an educational path that best prepares them for a successful career.
