Man Killed In Van Buren County Crash

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a Grand Junction man who was killed when he hit a tree this morning while driving on Baseline Road in Columbia Township. Officers say Timothy Thurston was likely killed on impact. Toxicology results are pending to determine if alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash, but investigators say they believe speed was a factor. Police don't know yet what caused the 38-year-old to leave the roadway and hit the tree head-on, crashing on the driver's side.
