"Vote Yes, to Move Benton Harbor Forward." That's the campaign slogan being used to tout the importance of passing the ballot proposal in the city's next election. A town hall meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday to discuss the millage's fiscal impact. Commissioner Marcus Muhammad says voting for the millage would discontinue the current special assessment while increasing the city's income.
Muhammad feels the special assessment was the right thing to do at the time of its issuing. But says voting for the ballot proposal is needed to continue moving the city forward. At 6:00 p.m. next Tuesday at the Business Growth Center, the City Commission and the Emergency Financial Manager Tony Saunders will be in attendance to present information and take questions about the ballot proposal.
