SJ School Board is Given Report on Special Education



The enrollment has decreased but the St. Joseph School District has grown in the area of special education. Monday night the school board was given a report by the Director of Special Education Lynn France, she recognized the how the district works with people ages 3 to 26.

The report was based off the most up to date information compared to the 2008-2009 school year. France says the number of autism disorders in St. Joseph has not increased over the last five years even though the rest of the nation and state have seen a rise, the county numbers are up eleven percent. Overall enrollment since 2008-09 has dropped 219 to 191 students in the special education program.
