Voting on Bleacher Bids are Happening in SJ

New bleachers planned for the St. Joseph high school gymnasium will come with fewer seats for spectators. The school board voted Monday night to accept a bid from Interkal LLC of Kalamazoo for roughly $163,700. The district has done business with Interkal before.

Listen:

That's Business Manager for the district John Ruddell who described the safety of Interkal compared to the other bids that came in. Ruddell said Interkal was the second lowest bid. The board voted down the idea of updating the railings in the gym, a recommendation from the superintendent said the new bleachers will no longer call for the need of a new railing system. When the new bleachers are installed, seating will fall from 2,200 to 1,800 seats in the gym.
