By the time summer rolls around, the City of South Haven is planning to have two 911 emergency call boxes installed near Lake Michigan, one at North Beach and the other at South Beach. Under a proposed legal settlement between the city and the family of a man who drowned in 2009, South Haven has agreed to install the boxes which give quick access to 911 and public safety.
That's City Manager Brian Dissette who says negotiations are underway with the company that will make the boxes. Code Blue is a Holland based company, they install emergency call boxes on college campuses, at airports and hospitals all across the state. Dissette also says the metal used to construct the boxes is manufactured in South Haven.
