It's going to cost the city of South Haven $1 to rent the former Michigan State Police post for several months this year while the city's police and fire headquarters are remodeled. The State Police site has been empty for several years since the agency retooled its operations. South Haven's police operations will move to the old state police building, while the firefighters will take up temporary housing in trailers. Work is expected to start in May and run until December. The city is now taking bids for the renovations.
