Just in time for spring, the Elkenburg Park improvement project is set to begin later this month. Work on the South Haven park will begin mid-March. New basketball courts and sidewalks are planned to be constructed. The restroom will be completely remodeled both inside and out. There will be new benches, picnic tables and trash cans, plus new fencing on the west side of the park. The project will cost $240,000, the City of South Haven will pay one third and the state of Michigan will pay the remaining two. The work is scheduled to be done by Memorial Day.
