A request has been made for the city of Benton Harbor to honor firefighters from the Twin Cities next week. Benton Harbor Public Safety Captain Dan McGinnis is asking for special recognition for firefighters from Benton Harbor and St. Joseph for their work preventing an apartment blaze from spreading to any other floors in a high rise last week, and for making sure no one was hurt. The blaze on the 6th floor of the River Terrace Apartments did $1.2 million in damage. Nine residents were displaced, but no one even had to be taken to the hospital. McGinnis is asking for the special recognition at Monday night's Benton Harbor City Commission meeting.
