An access right of way along M-63 could be transferred to the City of St. Joseph at no cost. At Monday night's commission meeting, Community Development Director John Hodgson informed the commission a piece of land roughly 80 feet wide and 800 feet long could be requested to have transferred from the Michigan Department of Transportation to the city. The transfer would allow for a waterfront path along the north side of the St. Joseph River be constructed.
Environmental work will also have to be done to the proposed parcel for roughly $4,900. Hodgson says it would be reimbursed by the developer under a developer's agreement with the city. The commission took action to make an application for MDOT and its transfer.
