Possible More Money Coming to St. Joseph for Dredging

Dredging has been a hot topic in Southwest Michigan as of late. It was announced this week the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Emergency Dredging Plan includes a proposed $1-million for the New Buffalo Municipal Marina, just over $436,000 for the South Haven Municipal Marina and $105,000 for the St. Joseph West Basin Marina harbor. WSJM News put in a call to Berrien County to see how St. Joseph will use the 100-grand. Officials say after further calculations, there is a need for at least $1-million for the St. Joseph River dredging project. The City of St. Joseph is currently working with the county to try to identify additional state funds that may be available. The county says more information will be available next week.
