The United Way of Southwest Michigan celebrated its most successful year ever Thursday at Shadowland on Silver Beach. Manager of the Annual Campaign Susan Matheny told WSJM's Brenda Layne the 2012 campaign had over 8,000 individual givers, with over 235 different companies supporting the United Way.
The campaign raised $3,281,533 - the highest amount raised in the organization's 70-year history. Matheny says the turnaround for the 2013 campaign happens quickly.
Maheny says to not think of this as a "political" type campaign.
Next years campaign chairperson has been picked, but Matheny says a public announcement is being withheld for the time being.
