Hartford Schools_ Carr Reach Settlement

A separation agreement between Hartford schools and former high school teacher Chris Carr has him receiving his health insurance through August and walking away from the job with $17,000. The "Herald-Palladium" obtained a copy of the settlement, reporting Carr was on paid leave for several months before his resignation was approved by the school board earlier this month. The teacher is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student during the 2011-12 school year, and the Van Buren County Prosecutor's Office is reviewing the case for possible criminal charges. The school board voted last year to fire Carr, and he resigned instead just before a hearing was scheduled with the Michigan Tenure Commission. The school board approved his resignation the day before that hearing was to begin.
