The Department of Public Safety is cracking down on theft and home invasion in the city of Benton Harbor. The department has been investigating numerous burglaries over the past few weeks, the majority of them occurring while home owners are away from their residences at work, school or running errands. Director Roger Lange says lookout not only for yourself, but also others.
Lange says outside of stepping up patrols, the department can't do much else unless there is help provided by citizens. The Department of Public Safety reminds home owners to be watchful of neighbor's homes if they are away and be mindful if you see unfamiliar faces loitering in the neighborhoods.
