Michigan Works! Is Offering a Program to Benton Harbor Youth Interested in Joining the Workforce

A program which allows Benton Harbor youth to earn a GED is being offered by Michigan Works. YouthBuild is an intensive, 32-week program for youth ages 16 through 24, that have not completed high school. Once in the program, youth will earn GEDs and gain valuable paid training experience in construction and in some cases healthcare. The youth will gain classroom knowledge and transfer it to worksites in the community. Three new homes will be built and two abandoned homes will be renovated. Megan McCausland with Michigan Works say in the process they'll learn a variety of construction skills; farming, plumbing, electric, drywall and siding.
