St. Joseph Native Kate Upton Again Graces "SI" Swimsuit Cover

Kate Upton is doing something a model hasn't accomplished since 1996 and 1997 - be the cover model for the "Sports Illustrated" swimsuit edition. The last woman to do it was Tyra Banks until this year. The St. Joseph native and niece of Congressman Fred Upton is making her third appearance in the iconic magazine, which hits newsstands this week. Upton is among 17 models featured in over 200 pages in the print edition, and SI has more photos available online as well. The magazine released a shot of the 20-year-old covered only in body paint online this morning, and she will be featured on "The Late Show" with David Letterman tonight on CBS.

On Twitter, Upton joked she looks "cold" on the cover, which features her in a parka with the hood up, a bikini bottom and nothing else with an iceberg behind her. Since her first appearance in SI in 2011, Upton has gone on to star in ads for Mercedes-Benz, the fast food chain Carl's Jr. and movies such as "The Three Stooges" and "Tower Heist," along with dating Detroit Tigers pitching ace Justin Verlander.
