After donating $75,000 to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, the American Red Cross of West Michigan is saying thank you to Whirlpool Corporation. The Red Cross presented a certificate at the Whirlpool Headquarters in Benton Harbor today. Local volunteers who were deployed to the east coast were present to personally thank Whirlpool employees and retirees for their contributions, also the Whirlpool Foundation for matching those donations. Volunteer Martha Lohrstorfer spoke of the donation.
Corporate Vice President Jeffrey Noel said donating to the effort was a given.
More than 1,000 Red Cross workers are still on the ground in New York, overall nearly 17,000 trained workers through the Red Cross, including 328 from West Michigan have mobilized to help people affected by Hurricane Sandy.
