Michigan's veterans will soon have a designation available for their driver's license or ID card to help link them to the services they've earned. Secretary of State Ruth Johnson made the announcement during a ceremony in the Capitol rotunda.
Johnson says the state must do more to "serve those who have served" and help them get the resources they need to succeed when re-entering civilian life. She says putting the designation on those licenses will help connect vets with the resources they've earned. The designation allows the Secretary of State's office to partner with the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and veteran service organizations across the state to provide referral information to veterans so they better know what resources and services are available to them. Additional information will also be made available to vets in the 131 Secretary of State offices throughout Michigan.
