Van Buren County United Way Tax Prep Opens Next Week

After a delay for the whole month of January, the IRS is now accepting tax returns. United Way of Van Buren County executive director Vera Tanier says that means their free tax preparation sites are set to open on Tuesday all over the county.

Listen:

Anyone who earns a family income of under $50,270 is eligible for the free tax preparation and e-filing service so long as they don't own rental property or a business. Information on the dates and hours of the tax services in each community is available on the United Way of Van Buren County's website at vbcuw.org. Tanier says they will also publish the information in area newspapers and distribute flyers to churches and food pantries. The IRS had delayed when people could file their taxes due to the fiscal cliff work that permanently extended the Bush-era tax cuts.
