The calendar says winter, but at times it feels like late spring. Traditional winter activities have slowed down or sometimes stopped all together lately, because of warm temperatures. The John and Dede Howard ice rink in St. Joseph is no exception, it was closed Tuesday. Manager Brian Dwan says the ice is normally kept cool artificially.
The chillers are no match for mother nature though.
Outside of closing Tuesday, Dwan says business has been pretty well. With no snow to go sledding, Dwan says ice skating seems to be the go-to outdoor winter activity in St. Joseph.
