There is a possibility the state will award over $180,000 to the Village of Berrien Springs for street and infrastructure upgrades. President Milt Richter says the village is in line to receive a small urban grant from the Michigan Department of Transportation, that will go toward certain road projects.
Mars from Cass to Mechanic streets and then a section of North Mechanic from Mars to Ferry streets are planned to be redone. Richter says another community couldn't take advantage of the grant and Berrien Springs was next in line. The village will spend just of $85,000 for the local match.
