Prosecuting Attorney Charges Davis Siblings



One half of the brother and sister duo that took part in killing a Niles man this past weekend faces life in prison. Berrien County Prosecuting Attorney Arthur Cotter announced Tuesday his office charged 28-year old Jovan Davis of Benton Harbor, with Open Murder and Assault with Intent to Murder, both life offenses. Davis also faces Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, which is a five year felony, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, another five years, and Felony Firearm, which is a two year consecutive sentence. His sister 19-year old Ashley Davis of Grand Forks, North Dakota faces Accessory after the fact to a Felony which is for five years, Felony Firearm, which equals two consecutive sentence and Assault and Battery which is 93-day misdemeanor. Officers were called to 791 Ogden Street last Friday night where they found two victims with multiple gun shot wounds. 35-year old Heather Poe of Benton Harbor was rushed to Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph for treatment, 25-year old Gary Alilovich of Niles was pronounced dead at the scene. Both Davis' were arraigned Tuesday and remain in the Berrien County Jail with a one-million dollar bond in each case. The two will be due in court on Wednesday, January 30th.
