Using counterfeit money to buy a used car has a man who had been living in South Haven facing federal charges. The "Grand Rapids Press" reports John Wilson allegedly started counterfeiting money in a motel room after being released from prison, and had spent the fake cash all over the South Haven area until being caught. In a criminal complaint filed in federal court in Grand Rapids, Secret Service special agent Bruce Cain said Wilson planned on spending the counterfeit cash all over the state once he obtained a vehicle. When he bought one, the seller realized the cash wasn't legit and called police, who arrested Wilson in Paw Paw near the Secretary of State's office as he was on his way to register the car.
