The Eau Claire school district is now hunting for its next leader. Superintendent Mark Costello will retire in June, and the school board this week approved accepting applications for the job for the next month. The deadline to apply is February 15, and public comment will taken at the January 28 school board meeting as to what residents want from Costello's successor. The goal is to have a new superintendent chosen by the end of April, but no framework has been set up for how to proceed once the applications have been submitted. This week the school board also accepted the resignation of business manger Lisa LaValley as she leaves for a new job in St. Joseph. LaValley had been with the district since May 2011.
