This Sunday marks the 21st time the St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Elks Lodge will host a fundraiser for physically and mentally challenged children. "Special Kids Sunday" is the single largest fund raiser of the year for the Ray Carlson Memorial. Memorial Committee Chairman Craig Carlson says the day is built around the NFL football games that will be airing on television.
Nearly $40,000 has been raised over the past 20-years of the event. The funds have sent children to diabetes camp, built wheel chair ramps, bought glasses and other special equipment. This year's "Special Kids Sunday" will be held January 20th, beginning at noon, at the St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Elks Lodge, and the public is welcomed to attend.
