IRS Filing Delay Impacting Charitable Organizations



Not only are you and I going to have to wait until the end of this month at the earliest to file our taxes, the delay by the IRS also affects charitable organizations. The United Way in Van Buren County will again be providing free tax preparation and filing for people making under $49,000 who don't own a business or rental property, but executive director Vera Tanier is worried about what the delay means for those folks.

The delay is a direct result of the fiscal cliff solution.

Those tax credits include the Earned Income Tax Credit, home heating credit, child tax credit and property tax credit. The IRS won't accept any e-filed or paper tax returns until the end of this month, but Tanier says she expects the start of filing to be delayed at least one more time.
