South Haven Area Emergency Services Authority will be in charge of inspecting all commercial fireworks operations in the city this summer. The city council approved that move last night, with City Manager Brian Dissette saying it was prompted by the state loosening the laws on fireworks in the state.
Dissette says SHAES has the staff to handle the inspections, and will receive 80% of the application fee paid by the businesses to the state of Michigan.
