Head On Crash in Cass County

Officials are investigating a head on crash that happened Wednesday afternoon in Cass County. 45-year old Norman Smith of Niles was traveling on Leet Road when his vehicle began to drift across the center line. 48-year old Hammond resident Demetrois Athanasopoulos tried avoiding Smith by crossing the center line himself, but was unsuccessful. The two collided and were transported by SMCAS ambulance to St. Joe Regional Hospital. Seat belts are believed to have been used and alcohol was not a factor.
