Residents in South Haven and Geneva Township may soon pay differently to drop off trash. A transfer station on County Road 384 that is run by Reliable Disposal on behalf of the two townships, has requested the townships switch to a punch card system rather than cash for trash drop off by residents. The punch cards would eliminate the need for transfer station workers to handle cash and it would allow residents a designated free dump day to allow for lighter traffic, compared to only two days designated in the current system. Geneva Township Superintendent Nancy Whaley tells WSJM News the situation is being studied and no decisions have been made.
