Two million dollars is coming into the bank account at River Valley Schools this year from the federal government. The interest-free loan will be used to make improvements in all district buildings, from new windows in the elementary schools to technology updgrades at the high school. The district qualified for the loan because more than 35% of its students are receiving free or reduced-price lunches. The middle/high school will have its bathrooms renovated to comply with the standards from the Americans With Disabilities Act, which was enacted nearly a quarter-century ago. The district will repay the loan using its general fund.
