Paw Paw Man Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Gasoline

The Van Buren County Sheriff's Department has a Paw Paw man jailed on several charges from allegedly stealing gasoline from a Speedway station to fleeing and eluding officers. The 56-year-old suspect allegedly drove off from the gas station in the 800 block of Kalamazoo Street in Paw Paw, leading officers on a chase at speeds up to 80 miles an hour. That ended when he drove through a yard and crashed through an empty garage and tried to run off on foot. Deputies suspect the man was high on a controlled substance of some sort, but have not disclosed what it may have been. He is spending the new year in the Van Buren County Jail awaiting arraignment.
