A warning is coming out today from Michigan Gas Utilities on a scam that has popped up over the last few days in Berrien County. Spokesman Paul Livernois says since Thursday, they've had four reports of scammers calling their customers in Berrien County.
Livernois says they would never call if there were a gas problem and instead would send out crews to go door to door. He says he thinks the calls are a ruse to get someone out of the home to make it easier to rob right before Christmas. Livernois says if you get such a call, you should contact the Berrien County Sheriff's Department and MGU to report it. Scam calls have been reported in Watervliet, Benton Harbor and two in Benton Township.
