Benton Township is calling on a seasoned vet to fill a vacant spot. Former Trustee Elden Piontek is being called in to replace Comptroller Kelli Nelson, who will be leaving for another job. The Herald-Pulladium reports Piontek chose not to run for election as trustee in November, though current trustees Kevin White and Cathy Yates asked him to help out. Piontek will hold the superintendent position for 13-months, a job that he once held in the 1990's. The Benton Township is facing rising costs for pensions and employee health care while tax revenue is dropping.
