Greg Powell says he knows it's not going to make him a popular person, but he feels strongly enough that our nation is headed in the wrong direction that his American flag is flying upside down outside Powell Custom Kitchen & Bath. He says he's doing it out of respect for the country and to get people to realize the debt the nation is in is a real big problem.
Powell started hanging the flag upside down per the nation's federal flag code for distress on November 7. Since then, he's had two people call upset about it.
Powell's State of Michigan flag is flying right-side up. He's not the only one in the area who flipped his American flag over after the election, as a South Bend man did the same thing and told our newsgathering partners at WNDU that flying the flag upside down is a show of patriotism but with displeasure over how the government is running things.
