The state Senate will hear testimony on Tuesday from state Representative Aric Nesbitt of Van Buren County on his bill banning employers from asking current and potential employees for their logon and password information for Internet sites. Nesbitt says it's starting to become more of a problem nationwide, and privacy laws have to keep pace with technology.
The House passed Nesbitt's legislation earlier this year. He says employers still should have every right to look at what's being made public on someone's Twitter, Facebook and other social media websites, but going beyond that needs to be stopped.
