George Dunn Sr. has won a judgement for $1.2 million against his former lawyer. The "Herald Palladium" reports the Benton Harbor man sued Robert Payne and Robert Payne and Associates over how the attorney and firm handled his medical malpractice lawsuit. Court documents indicate the statue of limitations expired before the lawsuit was filed. Dunn contacted the firm to file a lawsuit over operations to amputate his foot and then part of his leg, and he says even after the surgery his circulation problems worsened. His current lawyer, Kevin Anderson, reportedly made several attempts to serve the legal malpractice complaint and a summons, to which Payne never responded. The default judgement was granted in Berrien County Trial Court.
