Southwest Michigan Housing Market Improving

The housing market continues to improve in Southwest Michigan. The latest figures for October from the Southwestern Michigan Association of Realtors shows a 37% increase in the number of homes sold compared to 2011, and a rise of 6% in the average selling price. Year to date, sales of existing homes in the area have risen by 23%. Southwestern Michigan Association of Realtors executive vice president Gary Walter says the sales have been substantially higher every month this year compared to 2011 with the exception of June and August. He says the housing market dollar totals have risen back to 2008 levels, which is another sign the market is improving.
