Carjacking Suspect Arrested

Police have made an arrest in connection with a pair of carjackings in Berrien County over the past week. Officers in Benton Township took 41-year-old John Palumbo of Coloma into custody for an incident at the Orchards Mall last Monday and the KFC in St. Joseph Township on Thursday. In both cases, a suspect pulled a gun and got into a vehicle. In the first incident, Palumbo is accused of getting into a car with a woman leaving JoAnn Fabric and Crafts and demanding money. After she drove him a short distance in the mall parking lot, he jumped out by JC Penney and ran. The suspect ran away in the KFC incident after the couple in the car started to argue with him.
