Experience. That's what the incoming managing director of the Berrien County Road Commission will bring later this year. The BCRC board picked Wayne Schoonover as its next director this week. County highway engineer Brian Berndt says details on the deal are still being finalized, but everyone feels good about the move.
Berndt will serve as interim director after Derek Perry's stint ends on November 26. He has been heading up the Road Commission since Rhonda Hildebrand was dismissed earlier this year. She was let go after 13 non-union employees came forward with allegations of a hostile work environment, with two other managers and three Road Commissioners being swept out in the resulting controversy.
