The Bangor City Council is allowing City Manager Joe Sobieralski to move forward with trying to secure a former restaurant to become the headquarters of the city's police department. They're looking at the former Chicken Chalet building to replace the old headquarters, which caught fire two years ago. In 2009, a year before the fire, voters in Bangor rejected a ballot proposal to spend $1.3 million on a new city hall and police station. The move into the Chicken Chalet building isn't anywhere near a done deal, and City Councilman Fred Hicks voted against it. He says the old police building could still be a feasible option.
