There will not be any extra money coming in for fixing roads in Berrien County. Voters rejected the "Fix Berrien Roads" millage request for an additional half-mill in property taxes, and Lincoln Township Trustee Kevin Gillette tells WSJM News the deck seemed to be stacked against them.
The "Fix Berrien Roads" group has not met since the election results were final late yesterday, so Gillette says right now he doesn't know if or when they'll try again. The millage would have brought in funds above current state funding, which proponents say were needed to secure matching funds from the federal and state government for road work.
