Berrien County Clerk Louise Stine is predicting a fairly good voter turnout today, but not quite as high as the 65.5% that hit the polls in the 2008 presidential election.
She says some precincts may only see about a 20% turnout, where others will be in the 85 to 90% range. Four years ago, President Obama became the first Democrat in a long time to win Berrien County in a presidential election. We'll know later tonight if he's able to repeat that feat. Also on the ballot are six statewide proposals and a local road funding millage request for Berrien County. Benton Harbor voters are deciding on a pair of millage renewals that will keep city government funded, with one being for 10 mills. Mayor James Hightower has been calling on residents to approve that request, saying it is vital to prevent more financial problems with the city.
