Free diabetes screenings will be put on by Lakeland Healthcare Saturday at the Martin's Supermarket in Stevensville. Diabetes Education Coordinator Marilyn Emery says the issue has become a huge problem nationwide, and they want to help people get it under control if they are at risk.
In addition to blood glucose screenings starting at 8 a.m., Lakeland will host a cooking demonstration at the store starting at 10:30. That will focus on healthy recipes that taste good and help keep people's blood sugar under control. If you want to get tested, you'll need to fast for 12 hours and call today to get registered. You can call 556-2808 to register. Emery says they will accept walk-ins, but appointments are preferred.
