Without much discussion before the vote this week, the Berrien County Commission has approved the 2013 fiscal year budget. County Administrator Bill Wolf tells WSJM they had to use $300,000 dollars from the fund balance to make up for the difference between revenues and expenses.
The budget is for just over $52 million. Wolf says the spending plan accounts for as much uncertainty from the state as possible, given local officials don't yet know what the impact will be from the expected elimination of the personal property tax. That is the tax businesses pay on equipment, and Governor Snyder wants it gone.
